Plan Your Visit to Alanya

Alanya is Turkey's most popular vacation resort, with more than 150,000 people visiting each year. You'll realise right away that you're in a tourist-friendly coastal area with fantastic resorts, international restaurants, hundreds of shops, and pleasant inhabitants. Not to mention the kilometre-long sandy beaches and year-round sunshine! It all contributes to the creation of a great vacation spot, as many vacationers return year after year.

Best Time to Visit Alanya

Alanya is a year-round resort, although the weather cycle favours scorching summers and cold winters. Alanya's peak season extends from the beginning of May until the end of September, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 31 degrees. In July - August, though, the temperature rises much more, and the heat might become intolerable! There's also a very minimal chance of rain throughout the summer months, and you can (nearly) count on the sun. If you're visiting Alanya during the off-season, though, a long-sleeved shirt would be appropriate. It's between 9 and 20 degrees outside, and there's a good chance of rain. Despite the fact that the weather in Alanya is usually pleasant in the spring and fall, it is still suggested to visit in the summer. In the summer, there are also a lot more visitors, which gives it a real vacation flavour.

Get Around Alanya

Dolmus: Alanya's minibuses are known as Dolmus and are a convenient method to go about the city. You'll never have to wait long for a Dolmus to come. It may be required to communicate with the driver before he or she knows you need to board the bus. It is the cheapest and most convenient mode of transportation in Alanya.

Local buses go from the bus terminal west of the city centre and are also another inexpensive and convenient option. You may also take one of the buses to the main city of Antalya, Manavgat, or another city if you wish to go there.

Taxi: Of course, Alanya has a large number of yellow cabs, and finding one will not be difficult. It's critical that you either request that the taximeter be turned on or that you agree on a predetermined price ahead of time. This helps to prevent unpleasant situations.

In Alanya, numerous trees and streetlights have a little bell to hail a cab. Wait a few moments after pushing the bell, and in a glance, there's a cab. It's an ingenious system!

Pick-up service: Several restaurants and speciality stores in Alanya provide a free pick-up and drop-off service to and from your hotel. It's a fantastic service which you must utilise whenever essential. To see if it's an option, go to the restaurant's or store's website.

Rental vehicle or scooter: If you want to do activities outside of Alanya, renting a car or scooter might be a big help. It gives you the freedom to choose where and when you want to go.

The traffic in Alanya can be quite unpleasant. So stay cautious if you decide to hire a car and drive it yourself. Make sure you have adequate insurance to prevent an unpleasant and costly situation.
